SPIRALING UP - HULU SERIES

Editing with Intention: The HubSpot for Startups Trailer for Hulu

Blocks Away, Right in the Middle of It

I was in Boston, sitting in a hotel room just blocks from the venue where the Spiraling Up docuseries was about to premiere at INBOUND. The energy there was electric—founders, crew, partners, all buzzing with that mix of nerves and anticipation you only feel when something you’ve poured yourself into is finally about to go out into the world.

And there I was, headphones on, cutting together the final version of the trailer.

Not the Glamour, But the Truth

Not exactly red carpet glamour. But honestly? It felt perfect. This wasn’t how I imagined spending the premier week but I was deep in the emotion of the moment, surrounded by the very people whose stories we were telling. There was something poetic about editing the final version of the trailer during premiere week—right in the middle of the chaos and excitement that we wanted the trailer to capture.

I was sitting among the very people whose stories we were telling, and the urgency, the emotion, the realness of the moment poured directly into the cut.

Because this wasn’t just another edit for me. This was something more personal—for me, for the Elevative team, and for everyone at the event who saw a little bit of their own story in it.

Built for This Stage

At the time I was editing the trailer in that Boston hotel room, I had no idea it would eventually land on Hulu. Honestly, I was just focused on making something honest—something that felt true to the founders and the journey they were on. So when the Hulu news came through, it was surreal. But also… yeah, this cut belongs there. It’s built for an audience that wants real stories, not fluff—and I’m proud we made something that holds up on a stage that big.
